Process Engineer - Fibreline

At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
Based at our Kinleith Mill, Tokoroa, this is a full-time permanent position.
About the role
This is a key technical role where your engineering expertise and problem‑solving ability will directly influence plant performance, product quality, and environmental outcomes.
As a Process Engineer, you will provide professional engineering support across the Fibreline and Chemical Plant operations. You will:
- Stay current with international best practice in Fibreline technology, bringing fresh insight to improve process efficiency, product quality, and environmental performance.
- Lead troubleshooting, process investigations, and optimisation activities across plant operations.
- Conduct pre‑feasibility studies and provide qualified engineering advice for both small and large projects.
- Benchmark OEE performance and develop solutions to close gaps.
- Facilitate effective transfer of technical knowledge across Production, Chemical Plant, and other key stakeholders.
- Contribute to site-wide improvement initiatives and support safe, reliable plant operation.
This role is hands-on, influential, and ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex technical problems in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
About You
You’ll bring strong analytical skills, structured problem-solving capability, and a passion for continuous improvement. You will also demonstrate sound judgement, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Engineering or Chemistry (essential).
- Experience in pulp & paper or other heavy industrial processes.
- Demonstrated capability in process troubleshooting, optimisation, and project management.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
- A commitment to safety, operational excellence, and delivering meaningful results.
