Senior 3D Designer
At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
About the role:
We are looking for a Senior 3D Designer to join our Engineering Team, based at Kinleith Mill in Tokoroa.
Reporting to the Information Management Lead, this permanent role is ideal for someone who thrives on digital innovation, technical precision, and strategic impact.
You will play a key role in developing and maintaining digital 2D and 3D models of mill sections, supporting capital and maintenance projects, and ensuring the integrity of Kinleith’s intellectual knowledge. This is a chance to lead the evolution of our digital twin capabilities and shape the future of engineering design at one of New Zealand’s largest industrial sites.
A typical day will see you:
- Developing and maintaining plant digital models and integrating with CAD systems
- Supporting capital and maintenance projects through accurate draughting and design
- Collaborating with engineers and project controllers to model new or modified plant assets
- Recommending and evaluating plant scanning technologies and CAD software integration
- Supporting information management strategies and protecting intellectual property
- Ensuring technical documentation is current, accessible, and compliant
- Managing drawing office operations and contributing to cost-effective
project delivery
To succeed in this role, you will bring proven experience in engineering draughting and 3D modelling, ideally within a heavy industry environment. Demonstrate a have strong knowledge of CAD systems and digital twin technologies, along with familiarity in plant scanning tools and integration strategies. Have a customer-focused mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders are essential. You will demonstrate a solid commitment to safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement, backed by a clear understanding of information management principles and intellectual property protection. Experience managing drawing office operations within budget and compliance frameworks will round out your capability to thrive in this position.
