Category Manager


At Oji Fibre Solutions, our Supply Chain and Procurement team plays a vital role in driving sustainable and cost-effective procurement strategies that strengthen the performance of our Forest Resources manufacturing operations.

 

About the role:

We are looking for a forward thinking, commercially savvy Category Manager to deliver strategic sourcing initiatives that optimise cost, quality and delivery of goods and services, with a strong focus on total cost of ownership, supplier performance, and risk management. This role will support a complex portfolio of categories and cross-functional collaboration to deliver measurable outcomes across the business.

Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, you will be joining an established team with a commitment to continuous improvement, stakeholder engagement, and supplier performance and you will get the opportunity to play a key part in shaping the procurement strategy.

This role is based at our Mount Maunganui Office and involves regular travel to our mills.

 

Role Responsibilities Include:

  • Manage a portfolio of suppliers, building and maintaining strong, collaborative supplier relationships to ensure the delivery of high-quality products and services
  • Develop and implement category-specific sourcing strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes supported by strong analytical insight
  • Analyse spend, market trends, and supplier data to inform sourcing decisions and optimise value
  • Monitor supplier performance, using data and KPIs to ensure adherence to contractual terms
  • Ensure alignment with business needs through strong internal stakeholder engagement
  • End to end Contract Management, including supplier negotiations and drafting, review and management of contracts
  • Proactively identify risks and issues through structured analysis, and provide clear, practical mitigation recommendations
  • Take ownership for delivering outcomes, demonstrating initiative and resilience in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Support capability development within the category management team through informal mentoring, knowledge sharing and peer support

 

About you:

You’ll have proven experience in procurement, category management, and strategic sourcing, with a strong track record of delivering commercial outcomes.

Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry is advantageous, but not essential.

You’re comfortable working closely with operational stakeholders in environments where safety, reliability, and continuity of supply are critical.

You bring advanced skills in contract negotiation, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement, along with solid experience using procurement systems.

Confident and collaborative, you’re able to influence at all levels and lead change in a complex environment.
