Civil Engineer
Kinleith Pulp Mill | Engineering Team
Ready to put your civil
engineering expertise to work on large-scale, real-world projects?
We’re looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to lead brownfield projects at
Kinleith Pulp Mill, one of New Zealand’s most significant industrial sites.
At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
Based at our Kinleith Mill, located at State Highway 1, Tokoroa, this is a full-time permanent position with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours of work per week.
This is a hands-on, end-to-end role where you’ll see your projects go from concept to commissioning — all while working in a supportive, multi-disciplinary team and contributing to the long-term future of the mill.
What you will do
Key aspects of this position include:
- Taking the lead on high-impact engineering work
- Being the go-to technical problem solver
- Working closely with trusted vendors and consultants
- Making a visible difference every day
- Owning and delivering brownfield projects end-to-end
In this role you’ll manage capital and non-routine
maintenance projects, providing practical engineering solutions that support
safe, reliable and efficient operations.
You'll work closely with operations,
maintenance, contractors and consultants, becoming a trusted engineering
partner to the business.
About You
With proven expertise in brownfield project delivery, maintenance environments, and a strong grasp of engineering codes, regulations, contract administration, and budgeting, you bring both technical depth and regulatory awareness.
At least 5 years of experience in the Civil Engineering field is mandatory, with some of this experience in complex or industrial project environments.
A Bachelor of Engineering or New Zealand Certificate in Engineering qualification is desired but can be substituted by 5 plus years of directly relevant work experience (in addition to the requirement above).
Experience in temporary works associated with concrete construction would be an advantage as would certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP).
Last but by no means least, you will be customer-focused and results-driven, with clear communication skills and a strong commitment to integrity.
Why Join Us?
- Work on large, varied and technically interesting projects
- Be part of a close-knit, multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Make a genuine impact on the future direction of the Kinleith Mill
- Enjoy a role with both strategic influence and hands-on delivery
At Oji Fibre Solutions, safety comes first, teamwork matters, and continuous improvement is part of how we work every day.
Benefits on offer
- Salary range of NZ$110k to $120k per annum + enhanced superannuation
