About the role

Reporting to the site General Manager, the Engineering Manager leads a mixed team of professionals, 20 own staff and 10 – 20 contract engineers responsible for capital project delivery, non-routine maintenance projects, and strategic engineering planning at Kinleith Mill. This is a key leadership role that combines operational oversight, strategic vision, and cross-functional influence. You’ll manage engineering performance, drive asset improvement, and ensure safe, efficient project execution – while developing a future-focused capital plan that aligns with Oji Fibre Solutions’ business goals.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and coordinate Kinleith Mill’s capital investment plan and engineering strategy.
  • Oversee the delivery of capital and non-routine maintenance programs, ensuring performance, safety, and cost targets are met.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a large engineering team, fostering a high-performance and safety-first culture.
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate engineering support for plant reliability, process improvement, and outage planning.
  • Represent the Engineering Business Unit in site leadership, contributing to business planning, compliance, and continuous improvement.

You will hold a degree in Engineering, with CPEng or a similar professional accreditation considered an advantage. Having proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering capital projects and programs within large, continuous-process industrial environments. A deep understanding of engineering processes, project delivery, risk management, and asset optimisation is essential. You will also bring strong commercial and strategic skills, including expertise in budgeting, feasibility assessments, and contract administration. Experience in managing major plant outages, overseeing project execution, and ensuring statutory compliance is critical. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities, with a strong focus on collaboration and innovation, will ensure success in this role.
