Financial Accountant


At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Finance Team) we support our manufacturing operations (Kinleith & Tasman Mills) who are committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources.  We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and keen Financial Accountant who is looking to take the next step in their accounting career, to join our centralised Finance Team, based in Rotorua.

 Reporting to the Group Accountant, you will ensure the integrity of the financial records, to meet financial, statutory reporting requirements and taxation obligations. The Financial Accountant ensures appropriate policies and procedures are operating to allow the officers of the company to be satisfied they are meeting their obligations.

 Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Support the Group Accountant in the timely, accurate and relevant centralised reporting to meet the needs of both Kinleith and Tasman Mills.
  • Ensure compliance with tax legislation, with timely and accurate returns and payments where applicable.
  • Undertake the management of CAPEX process and maintenance of Fixed Asset Register.
  • Provide support and leadership in ensuring that both the internal and external audit requirements met.
  • Ensure accurate records of the companies fixed assets, ensuring all policies and procedures are relevant and strictly adhered to.

 What you will bring:

  • A qualified CA (or actively working towards CA accreditation), commerce tertiary qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience or exposure relating to statutory reporting, management of fixed asset register, internal / external audits, annual budget preparation and the use of financial systems such as SAP and MS Excel are desirable.
  • A passion for adding value to businesses through using your solid commercial skills.

Ideally, the successful candidate will have at least 2 years commercial accounting experience working in a manufacturing/industrial environment and have a genuine desire to develop and grow within the role. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to communicate at all levels in an organisation is essential. In addition, flexibility, the ability to work well under pressure and building and maintaining strong working relationships are the key personal attributes we are looking for.
