At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources, our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources.  We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

 

About the role:

Are you an experienced Forester who thrives on operational excellence, strong relationship building and a passion for environmental sustainability? We have a fantastic opportunity to bring together your breadth of forestry knowledge into a varied and challenging role which will influence both the day-to-day operation of our fibre supply function as well as the long-term future of one of New Zealand’s largest manufacturing operations.

As our Fibre Supply Forester, you will have a broad forest background with the ability to build strong partnerships with external fibre suppliers, lead environmental certification compliance initiatives, maintain commercial and safety oversight of forest harvest operations, and identify and evaluate forest and land acquisition opportunities.


What you will be doing

·  Working closely with external suppliers for the supply of pulp logs, making value-based tactical decisions on procurement options

·  Ownership and maintenance of environmental certifications and compliance

·  Oversight of log harvest and associated supply chain operations

·  Proactive H&S leadership to ensure our workers and contractors come home safely everyday

·  Building relationships with key people across the business and industry

 

What you will bring

·  A forest harvesting background

·  A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing harvest operations & commercial aspects of forestry industry. Ideally in CNI.

·  Experience in overseeing environmental certification requirements and GIS skills

·  A sound understanding of contractor management

·  A strong understanding of and commitment to H&S Management requirements associated with log harvesting, transport and forest engineering

·  Familiarity with the regions industrial log market

·  The capability to cost log harvesting and transport operations

·  Effective communication and relationship building skills
