Junior Engineer - Fixed Term
At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Kinleith Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources. We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer, on a fixed term contract from January 2026 to June 2026, based at our Kinleith Mill, Tokoroa.
Reporting to the Maintenance Improvement Leader, this role will work in a small team to support the production teams with the upgrade and implementation of our digital operator inspection programme within the mill operating units, and review and develop maintenance PMs across the site.

Key responsibilities include:
- Review operator inspection routines (and create new where required) and move these onto the upgraded software platform.
- Modify/optimise operator inspection routines based upon feedback from the operations teams.
- Train operators and support them in implementing the digital operator plant inspection routines.
- Incorporate theoretical engineering knowledge into practical outcomes by reviewing critical site equipment and creating maintenance inspection programmes to ensure correct management of these assets, including reviewing comprehensive parts lists.
- Demonstrate commitment to and maintain a unified and positive safety culture that applies key learnings and strives for continual improvement.
- Assist in moving initiative from Project to Business-as-usual.
The successful applicant will have the following attributes:
- A tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Reliability Engineering.
- Self–motivated, strong work ethic and good time management.
- Preferably experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Quick learner with good attention to detail skills.
- Proficient at picking up new computer skills, i.e. maintenance platform(s) such as SAP. MWorkOrder/mRounds, MS Office (Excel, Project).
- Competence in management of technical data.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the business.
