OJI Fibre Solutions is one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers and suppliers of packaging solutions to a wide range of industries throughout the country. Our customers include blue chip manufacturers and marketers of packaging products to the dairy, horticulture, food, grocery, primary produce, and industrial sectors.  Based at our Mangere Bridge site in Auckland, this exciting role supports our corrugated packaging & paper bag businesses around NZ. 

As a key contributor to our end-to-end innovation process; you will possess strong communication skills with the ability to engage with various stakeholders and offer creative solutions; ensuring a quality product is produced within budget and meeting deadlines, whilst ensuring packaging solutions meet regulatory compliance and customer requirements. 

Responsibilities:

• Liaising with customers to establish packaging design requirements, with a focus on innovative and cost-competitive solutions
• Customer projects/new product development, including global/regional trends among customers/packaging systems and automation & packaging innovation.
• Improve efficiencies with customers packaging solutions, production & machine systems. 
• Liaise with internal stakeholders including R&D forum to ensure local customer needs are considered and communicating new blue-sky innovations back to our customers
• Provide packaging innovation & technical support and advice for customers (e.g., paper, board grades, overseas pack types, trials, cool store performance, etc.)
• Interact with suppliers of other packaging mediums, such as bottles, trays, pouches to understand trends and effects on our products
• Interact with our customers supply chain partners to understand and improve our customers efficiencies for local and export freight & warehousing
• Lead developments in software tools to provide better support to the sales team and ultimately improve customer support
• Work with the Manager and team to focus on continuous improvement of work practices
• Maintaining and following all healthy and safety guidelines within the workplace

To be successful you will have the following:

• 3+ years’ experience in packaging design, packaging materials and/or packaging equipment, preferably in packaging environment. 
• Experience supervising the work of other people
• Background within the food / dairy / meat / horticultural industries with knowledge of manufacturing processes / packaging industry
• Experience with intellectual property / patents
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office suite
• Strong Project Management and technical skills
• High levels of communication and time management with a continuous improvement mindset
