Plant Engineer Wood Prep & Projects
Our manufacturing operations promote the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources.
About the role
Reporting to the Area Manager, this role provides both engineering leadership and day-to-day operational support across a critical part of the mill, the Production Business Unit. You'll be responsible for driving process improvements, managing technical projects, and supporting maintenance coordination to ensure asset reliability and minimal disruption to production. This hybrid role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys being close to operations—providing both long-term technical direction and hands-on planning input to maximise uptime and plant efficiency.
Kinleith Mill is known for being an ‘engineers’ playground’, you will fully utilise your Engineering Degree and your experience with problem solving within plant operations or engineering will be advantageous to you having a successful career here.
Being able to build trusting relationships with both technical and operational team members will enhance the positive impact you could have within the Production Business Unit.
What will you do
- Provide operational, process, and maintenance support to enhance plant reliability, safety, and performance.
- Lead troubleshooting and process optimisation to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, and environmental performance.
- Plan and manage technical projects from feasibility through to commissioning, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate daily maintenance activities, including schedule planning, task prioritisation, isolations, and plant readiness.
- Benchmark plant performance (e.g. OEE) and implement targeted actions to close performance gaps.
- Support annual business planning, budgeting, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Foster a strong safety culture through proactive risk identification, hazard management, and adherence to site standards.
