About the role

Reporting to the Area Manager, the Plant Engineer provides critical engineering leadership and operational support within the Caustic and Kilns Team—an integral part of the Kinleith Mill. In this role, you’ll drive process improvements, support daily maintenance planning, and help develop robust production systems that prioritise plant reliability, safety, and performance with minimal operational disruption.

This is an onsite, hands-on role that’s ideal for an engineer who enjoys being close to plant operations. You’ll apply your technical expertise to solve problems in real time, contribute to long-term planning, and ensure production targets are met through practical, data-driven solutions. Your ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across teams will be essential to delivering successful outcomes.

 What will you do:

  • Ensure EHS&R standards are met with a proactive and safety-first mindset.
  • Support operations and maintenance to maximise reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain and improve production systems such as Key Operating Procedures (KOPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead production planning, including shutdown coordination and cost management.
  • Drive continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Benchmark performance and identify opportunities to improve quality, cost, and sustainability.
  • Lead or support technical projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Strengthen team capability through knowledge sharing and mentoring.

We’re looking for someone with a degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or a related technical qualification) and at least two years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. A practical, hands-on approach, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a dynamic environment are essential. You'll also bring clear communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.

What we offer you

  • Competitive salary package - $120 - $135k per annum
  • Free Southern Cross medical insurance (RegularCare)
  • Enhanced superannuation, income protection, disability, and life insurance (company-paid)
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Clear career development and mentoring opportunities
