Process Technician


At Oji Fibre Solutions – Forest Resources (Tasman Mill), our manufacturing operation is committed to the efficient and complete use of sustainably sourced virgin wood-fibre from renewable forestry resources.  We take pride in producing world-class market kraft pulps, which are used in a wide range of boards and specialty products around the world.

 About the role:

We are currently seeking a Process Technician to join the Team at our Tasman Mill, in Kawerau.

The Process Technician is a Level 4 position working in the Technical Lab to provide analytical, environmental monitoring and project support to the Mill.

 Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct testing of in-process materials and products
  • Conduct other laboratory testing work, as may be required to help solve process and product quality problems
  • Support the Technical Group by ensuring that laboratory equipment and databases are well maintained
  • Support the smooth and efficient operation of the Laboratory through housekeeping, managing supplies, updating test method procedures and forms.

 The successful Applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Preferably hold a tertiary qualification in science or similar
  • Laboratory work experience is highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to build and maintain good work relationships
  • Ability to analyse data and solve problems
  • A thorough and methodical approach to their work
  • Good computer skills and able to produce formal reports from own tests results
  • Able to work occasionally outside normal business hours if required
