OJI Fibre Solutions is one of New Zealand's leading manufacturers and suppliers of packaging solutions to a wide range of industries throughout the country.  Our customers include blue chip manufacturers and marketers of packaging products to the food, primary produce, industrial and grocery sectors.  Based at our Corrugated Case business in Mangere Bridge, Auckland, we provide innovative and high-quality cardboard packaging to the dairy, horticulture, industrial and food sectors.

Significant scope for the right person to make the role their own and broaden into potential further leadership opportunities.  Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will work closely with production and various other departments, whilst exhibiting a strong drive, along with highly skilled technical expertise and a confident communication style.  Due to the demanding nature of our fast-paced manufacturing process, you need to be flexible with work hours, with the expectation of some call outs and weekend work.

We want your expertise in predictive and preventative engineering to lead the sites productive maintenance program with the goal of eliminating equipment and process failures. 

You will be responsible for:

  • Improving plant reliability by reviewing current results and ensuring correct execution of preventative and predictive maintenance schedules
  • To reduce or eliminate unplanned downtime, decrease recovery time and extend manufacturing equipment life through the optimisation of reliability centred maintenance programs, data collection and regular risk-based inspections
  • Resolving major breakdowns and roadblocks to productivity using RCA and other collaborative problem-solving techniques
  • Adopt and teach Reliability techniques to maintenance and production staff
  • Focus on continuous improvement working with the current maintenance team to design and implement improvements to existing equipment and processes
  • Identifying and dealing with barriers to improving engineering performance
  • Managing effective relationships with suppliers and contractors
  • Supporting Health & Safety culture within the team

You possess:

  • Experience managing and improving machinery reliability in a modern high-speed manufacturing environment
  • Experience in pneumatics, hydraulic systems with a working knowledge of engineering methods
  • Strong health and safety culture including knowledge of permit to work systems, LOTO and machine guarding
  • Advanced Trade Certification and/or NZCE or relevant Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or Electrical)
  • Formal training in Lean principles advantageous
  • RCA Best Practice knowledge
  • Project management experience
  • Total Preventative Maintenance experience
  • Experience using a CMMS system (MEX, SAP etc)
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel and Powerpoint
